CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Through Rachel's Challenge students at Reedy Creek Elementary School are going to great lengths to spread her message of kindness.
"The big thing we do on our Monday morning meeting is we talk about making it a lifestyle change, not just at school, so when they go home they can do a kind or compassionate thing,” teacher Ashley Yocum said. “When they come in the next day, they'll write it on one of the links.”
Those links make up a chain of kindness.
That’s something Rachel talked about -- spreading a chain reaction of kindness that she hoped would one day change the world.
Since students at Reedy Creek were first introduced to Rachel’s Challenge in September, they've been adding to the kindness chain.
"I helped the media teacher. I help other kids with their work and sometimes if they're sad I try to console them and stuff,” fourth grader Citlaly Espinoza said.
Small acts that make a big impact on students and the community.
