COLUMBIA, S.C. -- In just her first day as governor-elect of South Carolina, Nikki Haley's life has changed drastically.
She says she still didn't believe that she had won when she first woke up. That is, until she saw her new security detail moving her son's basketball hoop outside the house to make room for a guard shack.
Later in the day she stopped by a popular BBQ restaurant in Lexington to thank voters. She said the first thing she wants to do is keep her promises.
"Results are what I promised the people of South Carolina and results are what I will deliver," she says.
"So much of what the campaign talked about was about the things we want to do in South Carolina and now what we have to do is make sure we makes these a reality," says Haley.
Haley says she and her family will take the next few days off and next Monday she will begin the job of picking people for her new administration.
Haley will officially be sworn into office in January.
