CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Seven-year-old Rachel St. Gelais and her dog Patch are two of the family's biggest stars.

"He was the first (critter) in the house to book an acting gig," mother Angie St. Gelais said of Patch.

The sheltie pays for his food and the four children in the St. Gelais family work just as hard.

"I get to meet really neat people and it's really fun to hang out with them," Rachel said of her time on movie and TV sets.

Her biggest gig is probably "The Blind Side."

"Sandra Bullock was in the hair trailer with Rachel," Angie said. "We didn't recognize her because she had blonde hair."

Now, the family is hoping to land new roles in what's being called the biggest movie ever to hit the Charlotte area.

"It's so neat to have Hollywood coming to North Carolina," said Angie. "I think they'll find it's a place they want to come back to."

The movie "Artemis" begins casting in Charlotte this weekend. It's the working title for the popular tween book series "The Hunger Games."

"I think it's really cool because it's a really big movie," Rachel said. "We'd just like to be extras. People say it's going to be bigger than 'Twilight' and 'Twilight' is a really big movie."

Casting Calls

Producers are holding two open casting calls this weekend. The first is Saturday at the Cleveland Mall in Shelby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second casting call is Sunday at the Carolina Mall in Concord from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A third casting call is scheduled Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Plaza Fiesta in Fort Mill.

If you plan to attend one of the casting calls, bring a current photo.
