Local coffee shops get 'Gilmore Girls' makeover

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- "Coffee, coffee, coffee!" You've heard it before and most likely from one of your favorite Gilmore Girls, Lorelai. Today hundreds of fans got to experience Lorelai and Rory's love for 'Luke's Diner' without having to travel to Stars Hollow.

Netflix transformed 250 coffee shops into the fictional Connecticut diner, including local favorites "Not Just Coffee" and "Mugs Coffee." It's all to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the series' premiere and to promote the upcoming mini-series.

The first 250 fans scored a free cup of joe complete with some of the series most memorable quotes.

"I can't stop drinking the coffee, I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing, and the walking, and the words-putting-into-sentences doing," - Lorelai Gilmore

"This is a jumbo coffee morning. I need coffee in an I.V.," - Lorelai Gilmore

"Nothing says coffee like six o' clock in the morning," - Lorelai Gilmore

There were other "Luke's Essentials" such as aprons, plaid shirts, backwards hats, and of course the iconic "No Cell Phones" sign.

The show had a seven-year run, but for many that simply wasn't enough. Fans say they just need to know Luke and Lorelai are together, Rory is happy, and whether Sookie is still as accident prone as ever?

The announcement of the show continuing on Netflix under the title "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," has these fans shaking with excitement. (Then again, that might just be the caffeine!)
