CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you’re wondering how to get to Sesame Street, you don’t have to go far.
The classic childhood characters, as well as their new friend Chamki, are in Charlotte this weekend for Sesame Street LIVE: Make a New Friend.
“The characters, their storyline, the educational factor is something that plays a big role in each of our shows,” said Sesame Street LIVE performance director Rachel Dresner.
Just like the television show, the LIVE shows teach a valuable lesson to its audience. This particular one is about inclusion. Chamki, the new friend on Sesame Street, visits from India and teaches kids how to make new friends and accept old ones. And of course, you can expect lots of dancing and singing.
“A lot of our characters might come into the audience throughout the show,” Dresner said. “So it’s really cool to see them crouch down to a toddler’s level and get face to face and give them high fives and dance along with them to the Elmo slide, and it’s really special to see those memories being made.”
The show runs through Sunday at Bojangles' Coliseum.
