Sweet & Sour Shrimp

Gamberi in Dolceforte (Sweet & Sour Shrimp)

Makes 4 servings




3/4 cup

Shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 pounds

All-Purpose Flour

For dusting

Olive Oil

4 tablespoons

Ground Cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon

Lemon Juice

From 1 lemon

Salt and Black Pepper

To Taste


Method of Preparation

Gather all ingredients and equipment

Put raisins into a bowl, pour in water to cover and let soak

Dust the shrimp with flour, shaking off the excess

Heat olive oil in a shallow pan

Add the shrimp and cook over medium heat, stirring and turning occasionally, for 2 minutes

Season with salt and pepper

Sprinkle in the cinnamon

Remove from the pan and set aside

Drain the raisins and squeeze out the excess moisture, then add them to the pan

Stir in the lemon juice and cook, stirring, until the pan juices have thickened

Return the shrimp to the pan, turn them over gently in the sauce and remove from the heat


Transfer to a warmed serving dish and serve immediately
