CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person was killed when a car slammed into a power pole off of Monroe Road Monday morning.
The accident happened on Monroe Road near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Richland Drive around 2 a.m. All lanes of Monroe Road were briefly closed, but reopened just before 6 a.m., according to police.
Robert Barret Lynch, 24, was killed after he lost control of his 1999 Ford Taurus and crashed into a utility pole, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
The CMPD's Major Crash Unit is still investigating the cause of the accident.
