CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Tom McCann and John Potts met by chance back in 2010.

Potts was coaching McCann's daughter during a drivers educational class at Providence High School. With no warning, McCann collapsed on the pavement and went into cardiac arrest.

"I was very fortunate to have fallen literally in the arms of this man," McCann said of Potts.

Potts said he did not hesitate to help McCann. He immediately started CPR, while paramedics rushed to the school.

McCann was in a coma for six days. He said he doesn't remember much from the weeks before his heart attack, or the months after. But McCann knows he wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for the quick action of the man who jumped to his rescue.

"I feel great," said McCann. " I'm back to exercising, I'm back to work, so life is good, and I'm here to enjoy it."
