CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An overnight accident on East Independence Boulevard knocked down power lines and closed the road in both directions for several hours Monday.
The wreck happened about 1:30 a.m. on Independence Boulevard at Sardis Road North. The driver apparently lost control of his car and hit a power pole.
One inbound lane was closed at Sardis Road North, and traffic signals were not working after the accident, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
