MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Butler High School was placed on lockdown briefly Monday afternoon while police searched for three robbery suspects in the area.
Matthews police told NewsChannel 36 that an employee and a customer at Lapidary Arts suffered minor injuries during a robbery at the store, which is located on East Independence Boulevard.
Police said the victims were struck in the face and head. The employee was treated at the scene. The customer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for further evaluation.
Three men, at least one of them armed, fled the scene. Police did not have a detailed description of the robbers.
Butler High was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
