BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- A regional commercial laundry company will expand in Burke County, creating 68 jobs over the next three years.
Maple Springs Laundry Inc. serves the health care industry. The company, headquartered in Hickory, provides full laundry services for patient linens, pillows, operating room scrub wear and other hospital and doctor's office linens.
The company currently employees 200 people in Hickory and plans to expand into a larger, vacant textile plant in Long View.
"Maple Springs Laundry has called North Carolina home for 38 years, along with some of the most highly acclaimed health-care systems in the country," company President Chris Daughtry said in a news release. "And as an independent, family-owned business, we look forward to expanding our range of services offered to the health-care industry of Western North Carolina."
The expansion is made possible, in part, by a $136,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state.
