CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Classmates and dozens of domestic violence supporters marched through uptown in honor of a local mom and her two children who were found murdered this week.
On Tuesday police found the bodies of 13-year-old Na'Jhae Parker, her 13-month-old sister Nakyiah Chapman and their 34-year-old mom Nateesha Ward Chapman.
"She was always there for me, and now she's gone," says Kori Roseboro, Na'Jhae Parker's best friend.
Investigators say Chapman's husband killed them nearly two weeks ago and then later killed himself.
Friends say they even went to the house to check on Parker, but her father wouldn't let them in the house.
"The first time I went he said her mom was at church, then says she's sleeping or at her uncle Jimmy’s house or at Walmart," says Roseboro.
Now they know the worst had happened.
"That's what really hurts me most because this whole time she's been dead and she hasn't been with us and nobodys known," says Zack Roseboro, another friend of Parker's.
Some who marched held up signs while one marcher beat a drum every 15 seconds, which is how often a woman is abused in this country.
The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council marches every Thursday after a domestic violence incident to help raise awareness.
The group marched around the square at Trade and Tryon.
So far there has been no word on funeral arrangements for the family.
