CHESTER, S.C. -- A Lewisville High School student collapsed during a preseason football scrimmage and died, a Chester County coroner said.
18-year-old senior Brian Colvin was playing in the Chester County Football Jamboree when he collapsed, said Chief Deputy Coroner Tommy Williams. Colvin showed “seizure-like” symptoms on the field, said Williams, and was taken to Chester Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 7:46 p.m.
The coroner's office will conduct an autopsy.
Lewisville played Westminster Catawba Christian School of Rock Hill during Friday night’s Jamboree at Chester High School.
Colvin is the second Lewisville athlete to die within the last week.
Last Saturday evening, Catherine Elizabeth Fowler, of Richburg, a softball player and varsity cheerleader, was killed in a two-car collision near Great Falls.
A donation fund has been started to help the Colvin family pay for funeral arrangements. If you'd like to help, please call The Country Omelet Restaurant in Richburg, S.C., 803-789-5840.
