YORK, S.C.-- Part of the mystery is solved. York County Sheriff investigators have identified the body of a young woman found last week along a creek bank in York County near Clover.

She was only a teenager, 17-year-old Heather Marie Catterton, from Gastonia.

Sheriff investigators are not saying how she died but they are calling this a homicide investigation.

NewsChannel 36 has also found out that Catteron was mixed up in some risky social circles.

"She was not reported missing," says York County Sheriff Captain Jerry Hoffman.

She can be seen as the smiling face of a teenager on Myspace, but the picture doesn't give any clues into the mystery of how Catterton died.

"The body was found between two of those culverts," explains Hoffman.

Her body was found Thursday off Robinson Road in York County.

Investigators say a relative called with the tip, after seeing the news story on TV.

Captain Hoffman says, "She was not in high school, her residence was listed as with her father, but we don't believe she stayed there all the time."

Officers released photos of the clothes she was wearing-- a hooded sweatshirt, socks, and tennis shoes. They say they found her half undressed but wouldn't say if she was raped.

"The rest of the clothing she was wearing was found in a straight line about a mile and a half away over the side of a bridge on South Crowders Creek, says Hoffman.

Catterton had been convicted on drug charges previously.

Deputies want to know more about two trucks spotted on Robinson Road days before her body was found--- a newer model red Ford F-150 and an older blue and tan Chevy S-10.

Deputies want to hear from any of Catterton's friends to see if they can shed more light on who she was hanging out with recently. "Residences, friends and names, anything to lead us to folks that may help us figure this out," says Hoffman.

If you have any information about those two trucks or you were a friend of Catterton's call the York County Sheriff's Office.
