GREENVILLE, N.C. -- For Pitt County, it's not such a grand old flag after all. Mostly just old, in fact.
Local officials are asking for residents' help in coming up with a new design for the official banner of Pitt County, which they say has been around for too long and needs to be shaken up a little.
They've launched a contest asking citizens to design a new flag. The winning entry will be formally adopted by the Board of Commissioners, flown in front of the county office building and used at official events.
The winning designer will also get a cash prize of $75.
The only design rule is that the flag has to incorporate the county logo or its official seal.
The contest ends March 12.
