ROCK HILL, S.C. – A mother and her teenage son are fighting for their lives in a hospital after they were beaten at their home in Rock Hill, and deputies arrested the woman's boyfriend late Thursday night.

Kimberly Dawn Faile-Bryant, 35, and her 16-year-old son had both been severely beaten when officers responded to their home in the 1400 block of Elder Road around 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Both were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.  Deputies say Faile-Bryant is listed in stable condition while her son is listed in critical condition with severe head injuries.

Late Thursday night deputies arrested Faile-Bryant's boyfriend, Danny Ray Pittman, at a mobile home park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Witnesses told deputies Pittman was at the home during the assault.

A 2006 blue Kia Sorento belonging to one of the victims was missing, and Horry County Police officers found the stolen car with Pittman on Thursday night.

The family believes the victims were attacked with a baseball bat, but deputies would not immediately confirm that to NewsChannel 36 on Thursday.

Ethel Faile, the teen's grandmother is worried that the 16-year-old won’t make it home at all, or if he does he’ll have no chance at a normal life.

"The doctor said he's probably going to keep having stroke after stroke and seizure after seizure," said Faile.

Faile-Bryant's 11-year-old daughter was also at the home during the incident but was not injured, deputies say.

Family members said they tried to discourage Bryant from seeing Pittman.  He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Pittman has damage to property and third degree assault criminal charges in Horry County and is still in custody there.
