CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A US Airways plane leaving Charlotte Douglas International Airport had to make an emergency landing Sunday.
Airport officials said the crew heard a loud noise after the plane took off for Charleston, West Virginia around 2:30 p.m. The pilots decided to turn the plane around and return to the Charlotte airport.
The 44 passengers were put on different flights, according to officials.
Officials said it's still unclear what caused the noise but mechanics are inspecting the plane.
