DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Interstate 77 was temporarily shut down because of a bad wreck early Friday evening that injured one person.

At least four cars were involved in the accident which blocked both southbound lanes. One of the cars was flipped the opposite direction in the accident.

The northbound lanes were temporarily closed as well but reopened around 5:30 p.m.

One person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

All lanes of the interstate were back open just before 9 p.m. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and has not yet said what caused it.
