CMPD offers rabies vaccinations

Spring is a time when many of us welcome a new puppy or kitten into our homes... and protecting them is a top priority.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Spring is the time we start seeing a lot of puppies and kittens coming into the world. With that being said, CMPD Animal Care and Control wants to help you take care of them.

During second Saturday of every month, the shelter offers free rabies shots for Mecklenburg County pets and $10 microchipping for any pet who needs one. Free spay and neuter clinics are also available.

And for anyone looking for a new furry friend, the “Clear the Shelter” event Saturday waived adoption fees to help find dogs and cats new homes.

“If we can waive the cost up front and ask for a donation of any amount they choose to our spay and neuter clinic and pay it forward, they can use that other money they save to go to the pet supermarket and get all those supplies that we know we need when we get all these puppies and kitties," says Animal Care and Control's Melissa Knicely

All pets adopted in Mecklenburg County will still need a pet license.
