Charlotte restaurant serves up meatball cones with a side of philanthrophy

A new restaurant is providing Charlotte with a unique twist on Italian food and a way to give back to the community.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A new restaurant is providing Charlotte with a unique twist on Italian food and a way of giving back to the community.

We all know the old saying, "the easiest way to someone's heart is through their stomach."

Fidelli Kitchen in South End is proving the proverb holds true.

The restaurant opened just three months ago and has already become loved by Charlotteans for a unique menu item: meatball cones. The meatball cone is the equivalent of an Italian food lovers' ice cream cone. The bread cone is packed with 'meatball mix' and topped with whole meatballs, marinara, and cheese.

Although the meatball cone is quick to win over the hearts (and stomachs) of the kitchen's customers, there's another reason to love the new "Chipotle-style-service" restaurant.

Fidelli provides their staff with a "Career Accelerated Training" program.

The program is a mentorship customized for each member of their staff. The effort behind the program is to help staff members achieve their career goals, whether or not that be in the restaurant industry.

Pieces of the program include providing staff members with a professional headshot, a professional LinkedIn page, a profile on Fidelli's website, and a short video and biography stating their career goals.

The model was founded on a belief that Fidelli could combine a for-profit restaurant with a higher purpose.

"The main focus is centered around the idea of connecting people with marketable and teachable skills to help build support, guidance, and accelerate success in their field," Fidelli's founder says.

The restaurant plans on growing their program and business worldwide, starting in Charlotte.
