5 ways to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday in Charlotte

Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, was a pioneer in children’s literature. The books that he wrote and illustrated introduced countless children to the joy of reading. His birthday is March 2nd (he’d be 113 this year) and there are several ways to celebrate in Charlotte.

Seuss-a-thon
When: Saturday, March 4th, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. 
Where: Park Road Books, 4139 Park Road
What: Co-sponsored by UNC-Charlotte’s English Department and Park Roads Books, this event is a great tradition. Local educators and literacy advocates will read Dr. Seuss books to kids, marathon style. In addition, Park Road Books will offer a 20% discount on all Dr. Seuss Books.

Dr. Seuss Day at ImaginOn
When: Thursday, March 2nd, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: ImaginOn, 300 East 7th Street
What: There will be a family Dr. Seuss themed story time at 10:30 a.m., and plenty of games, crafts and activities all day.

Celebrating Dr. Seuss
When: Thursday, March 2nd, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Where: West Boulevard Library, 2157 West Boulevard
What: Enjoy books and literacy activities as you celebrate the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel.

When: Thursday, March 2nd, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Where: Cornelius Library, 21105 Catawba Ave, Cornelius
What: Join Mr. George and Ms. Megan as we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Enjoy a story, craft, games, and cake. Registration required. Call 704-416-3800 to register. Kindergarten through 5th grade welcome.

Where: Barnes & Noble Arboretum, 3327 Pineville-Matthews Road
What: In celebration of the beloved author’s birthday, join us as we read from some recently released and classic favorite Seuss books. There will be games and activities featuring Dr. Seuss’s March Battle of the Books. You won’t want to miss this Seussical event!
