Extra people crowd into Charlotte Douglas for holiday travel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Douglas Airport is expecting over 30,000 extra passengers alone on Wednesday, one day before Thanksgiving.

Passengers who arrived early were greeted by long security lines, bustling ticket counters and therapy dogs.

As of early Wednesday morning, Charlotte Douglas Airport is one of the most on-time airports in the country, with less than a half a dozen delays.

American Airlines opened their ticket counter early at 3:30 a.m. to accommodate the increase in traffic.
