FORT MILL, S.C. -- Fort Mill will taste a bit sweeter this weekend for the eighth annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival.
Springs Farm strawberries take center stage, both in the fields and at the event.
“We’ve got plenty of strawberries, and would love for people to come out and pick,” says Ron Edwards, manager of Springs Farm.
And you’ll find them around every corner. A strawberry cake eating contest, smiles from Berry Be Good, even a pig race ending with a kiss from the Strawberry Queen!
“The whole purpose of the pageant is to do a cause before the crown, so for me, my cause was youth leadership development,” says Daisy Burroughs, who was just crowned Miss Strawberry Festival Queen 2017. “I’m going to be able to use that to go speak to students about why they should be so engaged and so energized and ready for life.”
Aside from strawberries, the festival will also include over 100 art vendors and local businesses from the Fort Mill community.
“When you come out to have a good time at the festival, you’re supporting a lot of nonprofits to help run our town,” says Fort Mill events and media coordinator, Caroline Hasty.
Parking for the festival is just $5. You can grab a free shuttle ride from there to Walter Elisha Park.
