KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- An electrical parts manufacturer plans to expand its plant in North Carolina and create 114 jobs over the next three years.
Gov. Beverly Perdue announced Tuesday that Baldor Electric Co. will invest more than $12 million in the expansion of the plant in Cleveland County as it consolidates work from a South Carolina plant.
Baldor makes industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products and generators. The One North Carolina Fund made a $157,000 grant to the company.
The company is headquartered in Arkansas and operates 26 manufacturing plants in the United States, Canada, England, Mexico and China. Nearly 700 people are employed at the company's three North Carolina plants, including Kings Mountain, Marion and Weaverville.
