04:14 PM EDT on Monday, September 22, 2008
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- A movie about Wake Forest's Atlantic Coast Conference football championship in 2006 will be filmed in the Triad.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that The 5th Quarter is an independent film. It will focus on linebacker Jon Abbate, who -- driven by the death of his brother Luke, and wearing Luke's No. 5
jersey in tribute -- helped lead the Demon Deacons to the most successful season in the school's history.
The screenplay was written by Rick Bieber, who will also direct the film and is one of its producers. Bieber has produced such films as Flatliners and Radio Flyer.
The film will be shot entirely in Winston-Salem, including on the Wake Forest campus and in local restaurants.
