NC State loses starting QB, LB for South Florida
04:19 PM EDT on Monday, September 22, 2008
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A starting linebacker and quarterback for North Carolina State will miss Saturday's game with No. 13 South Florida because of injuries.
Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien said Monday that quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Nate Irving are out, but would not detail what was wrong with them, citing the Atlantic Coast Conference's injury-reporting policies.
Wilson was named the ACC's offensive back of the week after throwing three touchdown passes in a 30-24 upset of East Carolina.
Wilson suffered a concussion in the season opener at South Carolina, but O'Brien declined to say whether that is related to his current injury.
