North Carolina 4, Davidson 0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Andy Gale pitched the first complete-game shutout
this year to lead North Carolina to a 4-0 win over Davidson on Tuesday
night.
Gale (2-1) allowed six hits and hit a batter, while striking out a
career-high 10 batters and allowing no walks. No Wildcat made it past
second base.
Brian Packey (0-2) took the loss for the Wildcats, who dropped to 15-16.
North Carolina improved to 28-6 in the non-conference game.
The Tar Heels ran up a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Justin Webb
scored on a single by Chad Flack, while Matt Ellington and Jay Cox
reached on a two-out double by Seth Williams.
Bryan Steed drove Benji Johnson for the final run in the sixth.
