CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The forecast for Tropical Storm Hanna may be shifting away from the Charlotte area, but local high schools are taking no chances with their varsity football games.
Several teams have announced they are rescheduling their Friday night games. In addition, Independence High has cancelled its Friday night game against a team in Florida, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced.
Here's a list of the schedule changes:
Cleveland County: Crest, Kings Mountain, Burns and Shelby high schools will play varsity games on Thursday instead of Friday.
Gaston County: Ashbrook, Bessemer City, Forestview, South Point and East Gaston high schools will play on Thursday. Highland School of Technology and Hunter Huss High School will play their away games as scheduled on Friday.
Richmond County: Richmond Senior High School will play Anson Senior High School on Thursday.
South Carolina: York Comprehensive game versus Chester has been moved to Thursday, as has the Rock Hill versus Nation Ford game. Fort Mill has also rescheduled its game for Thursday. Clover High School will play Forestview High on Thursday.
