When you need baking to be a piece of cake, these tips will help you turn a standard cake mix into something special.

What you’ll need:

depends on which trick you’re using. Here are all the ingredients we used.

Food Lion Cake Mix
Food Lion Eggs
Food Lion Vegetable Oil
Food Lion Cola
Food Lion Icing
Food Lion Food Coloring
Food Lion Ice Cream Cones

Colored Cake
Kids will love turning a standard yellow or white cake their favorite color. You can also make colored cakes to correspond to holiday or party themes.
Mix up a Food Lion Cake Mix following the directions on the box. After you’ve mixed the batter but before baking, add a few drops of Food Lion food coloring in the hue of your choice. Start with just a few drops and keep adding coloring until you achieve the desired saturation. You can mix two colors of food coloring to make a third color just like paints. Keep in mind that regardless of the color, the finished product will be lighter after baking.
After mixing the coloring into the batter, spoon it into your cake or cupcake pans and bake as directed.

Cola Cake
This easy cake recipe only calls for one box of chocolate cake mix and a can of cola. Just blend the chocolate cake mix with a can of cola. No need to add any of the other ingredients called for on the box.
Pour into your cake pan or cupcake cups and bake as directed.

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes
Cupcakes baked in ice cream cones are adorable.  These are perfect for children’s parties or to send to the class on a special occasion.
Prepare your cake mix as usual and set aside. Place child-size ice cream cones with flat bottoms into cupcake tins, one cone per cup. Fill each about two-thirds of the way with cake mix and then bake as directed for cupcakes.
Be sure to have a steady hand as you transfer the tray into and out of the oven because the cones will be a little wobbly in the cupcake pan.

After you remove the cupcakes from the oven, allow them to cool and then top them with icing.
