GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- An 18-month-old was taken to the hospital Friday night after he was shot in the arm.
Officials say the shooting happened inside a home in Bessemer City on South Skyland Drive.
According to investigators on the scene, an 18-month-old was shot in the left shoulder shot shortly after 8 p.m.
In a press release sent to NBC Charlotte officials said, "The injury sustained was non-life threatening. The shooting is being investigated as an accident and no foul play is suspected in the incident."
Officials said the child was at home with his father and eight-year-old sibling when the shooting occurred.
It's unclear who the gun is registered to, or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
