STATESVILLE, N.C. -- The Iredell County Sheriff's Office seized three pounds of pot during a traffic stop earlier this week.
The sheriff's office said deputies pulled over a U-Haul truck that was driven by 22-year-old James Rossi on I-77 on Tuesday.
They initially stopped the truck for speeding, but they reported an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the truck.
The truck was searched and three pounds of marijuana and $24,000 in cash was discovered, according to the sheriff's office.
Rossi was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance.
Rossi is being held under a $10,000 secured bond at the Iredell County Detention Center.
Christopher Dubois was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and released.
The estimated street value of the pot is closed to $30,000, according to the sheriff's office.
