LANCASTER, S.C. -- A gunman fled a Lancaster Dollar General store Wednesday night with cash and jewelry, officials say.

Right at 10 p.m., Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General Store in the 4400 block of Pageland Highway in reference to an armed robbery.

The clerk told deputies an armed black male, between the ages of 20 and 25, entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the register and the jewelry she was wearing.

The suspect fled the scene.

Officials say he was wearing dark clothing and a bandana on his face. He's described as approximately 6-foot-3 with a thin build.
