CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than 3,500 people in Charlotte's SouthEnd were without power after police said a car crashed into a power pole Friday night.
Officers said the car snapped the power pole around 10 p.m. Friday at the corner of Wilmore Drive and West Summit Avenue. According to police, the driver ran from the scene after the accident.
Police were called out to that area earlier in the evening for a shots fired call but said that the two incidents are not connected.
Power was restored by Saturday morning.
