CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The cold temperatures will hang around for Friday.

This morning's temperatures were in the 20s, but did not fall below the all-time low for this time of the year.

"It's cold out there, but the good news there is no rain," forecaster Larry Sprinkle said. "There is a small chance for rain Saturday."

Today will be partly sunny skies with highs near 50°. The Charlotte area has a 40 percent chance of  showers by Friday night, according to the First Warn Storm Team.

Tonight the temperatures will drop to the upper 30s with showers moving across the region and into early Saturday morning.

"There's a chance for showers overnight into Saturday morning," Sprinkle said. "It won't be heavy rain, but scattered shower moving across."

The rain chances will stay around for most of the weekend. Sunday is the strongest chance of rain throughout the day. The mountain region will also see some flurries move through with the rain.
