CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for the person who hit a power pole Monday morning and left the scene.
The incident happened at Idlewild Road and Cedarwild Road around 4 a.m.
The car collided with a power pole and knocked down power lines causing power outages to about 1,000 residents in the area this morning.
The driver of the car fled the scene after the incident, police said.
Traffic lights at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Idlewild Road were out for most of the morning because of the incident.
Duke Energy crews worked all morning to repair the power pole and restore the power to residents in the area.
Police closed Idlewild Road between East W.T. Harris Boulevard and East Independence Boulevard all morning so crews could work to fix the down lines.
Police said Idlewild Road reopened around 12 p.m.
