UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating why a plane landed in a field in Union County Friday night.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the plane -- a Piper PA22 -- landed in a field off of Faith Church Road near Pin Oak Road in the Hemby Bridge area around 7:45 p.m.
