CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person has died and another transported to the hospital following a crash Monday morning in west Charlotte.

The Charlotte Fire Department was called out to a traffic accident with an entrapment around 6:00 Monday at the intersection of Moores Chapel and Rhyne Roads.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say 67-year-old Heinz Heinrich Lumpe was attempting to make a left turn from Rhyne Road onto Moores Chapel when he was struck by a 2009 Dodge Ram driven by 36-year-old Bart Allen Bradburn.

Lumpe was pronounced deceased on the scene by MEDIC. Bradburn was taken to CMC Main for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the crash.

At the time of the writing, no charges had been filed, but the case remains under investigation.

Significant traffic delays plagued motorists Monday morning on Moores Chapel Road between I-485 and Rhyne Road, as the roadway was closed for a crash reconstruction.
