CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Fire Department is investigating five intentionally set fires.

The first fire started around 4:30 Sunday morning on Nations Ford Road inside a dumpster.  After that fire was under control, firefighters were busy darting around the area putting out multiple fires that were set along Nations Ford Road.

A block away at 6754 Nations Ford Road, the fire caused $30,000 in damage, according to officials. The building belongs to Ford's Tires, a new and used tire business.

Other fires were put out in dumpsters at E.E. Waddell Language Academy, Nations Ford Elementary School, and The Tile Shop.  They are under investigation.

Captain Rob Brisley, tells NewsChannel 36, “These fires may or may not be related.”  Brisley went on to state the Charlotte Fire Department Task Force is investigating the string of fires.

Brisley would not reveal if there was surveillance video or any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
