CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Light rain fell across the Charlotte region Tuesday morning, and more is on the way for the area.

Scattered showers and fog moved from the west into the Charlotte region causing wet roads during Tuesday morning's commute.

Several interstates and roads around Charlotte are still wet from the light showers and will remain wet through most of the week.

“It’s just that low deck of clouds and the fog and the drizzle out there—enough to just make it irritating to be outside,” said the First Warn Storm Team's Larry Sprinkle.

The light rain will continue to fall Tuesday night, with patches of heavy rain moving across Charlotte from the mountain region.  Heavier rain is expected in the mountains, with 2.5-3 inches expected by Thursday morning.

Rain will continue Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Cooler air will move back into the region as well, with Charlotte getting nearly an inch of rain by Thursday.

Highs will be in the 50s Tuesday night and Wednesday, with overnight lows dropping back into the 40s, according to the First Warn Storm Team.

The second half of the week will be colder. Highs will range from the 40s into the 50s with morning lows in the 30s.
