UNION COUNTY, N.C. – A man has been convicted of attempted murder after a shooting at a Monroe DMV.
The Union County District Attorney’s office said a Union County jury convicted Melvin Lee Luckey of two counts each of Attempted Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of Firearm by Felon and one count of Larceny of a Firearm.
Luckey was convicted after his involvement in the armed robbery at the DMV tag office in Monroe. Crystal and Robbie Jordan were shot multiple times outside their business on Roosevelt Boulevard.
According to the DA’s office -- Luckey’s co-defendant, Otis Howie, was previously tried and convicted for his involvement in these crimes in October of 2012 and was sentenced to approximately 72 to 90 years in prison.
The jury will return to court on Tuesday morning to hear the sentencing phase of the trial.
