CROWDERS MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- One person was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries after a vehicle struck a tree on Monday night.

Crowder's Mountain Fire and Rescue and Gaston EMS responded to the single vehicle crash on Crowders Creek Road and Southern Farm Drive around 11:30 Monday night.

A physical rescue was needed to free the entrapped motorist from the wreckage.

The victim was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
