MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Matthews police are on the hunt for a man accused of robbing a CVS early Thursday morning.
Police said the man robbed the CVS at 1305 Matthews Township Parkway around 1:30 a.m.
The suspect was able to take cash and run out of the store.
Authorities were able to track down the thief along Sardis Road after he crashed at the intersection of Sardis Pointe. But the man jumped out of his vehicle and fled the scene on foot, evading the officers.
No one was hurt during the robbery or ensuing chase, according to authorities.
Police believe the man also tried to rob a Walgreens in Stallings earlier this week.
Around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Stallings police responded to the Walgreen's at the corner of Potter Road and Chestnut Lane in reference to a robbery.
In that robbery, the man snagged an undisclosed amount of cash when an employee opened the register. He then fled the store on foot in the direction of Whetstone Drive.
The man did not present a weapon, police say.
The suspect is a white in his late 30's, police say. He is approximately six feet tall with dark hair and a medium build.
In an earlier version of this story, a Matthews police officer erraneously confirmed to NBC Charlotte that the suspect in this case had been apprehended.
