CHARLOTTE, N.C.— Exactly one year after an armored truck driver was shot during a robbery attempt in SouthPark, investigators are still searching for clues.
Loomis Fargo employee Ladena Duncan was shot and seriously injured during an attempted robbery while servicing a Wells Fargo ATM at the Foxcroft Shopping Center off of Fairview Road on January 23, 2012.
The FBI Charlotte Division is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and persecution of the suspect.
“FBI agents and task force officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have been actively investigating and following leads in this case,” the FBI said in a statement Wednesday.
According to police, one of two employees in the Loomis Fargo truck got out of the vehicle to work on an ATM. The employee was approached moments later by a man who shot Duncan around 9 a.m.
Police said Duncan got back in the truck and her co-worker called 911 and tried to drive to Carolinas Medical Center but was instructed by a 911 operator to stop at Cavendish Court and Providence Road so the victim could receive immediate medical attention from EMTs.
The suspect is between 20 and 25 years old with a small build. He was disguised with a grey hooded sweatshirt, black t-shirt, grey sweatpants, black Nike shoes and a baseball hat with a silver sticker on the brim.
