WAXHAW, N.C. -- The seemingly quiet Weddington Chase neighborhood of Waxhaw is a community of families.

“When you drive through, everyone’s playing football with their kids in the street or cutting their own grass” said John Mazur.

By the looks of Mazur’s front yard, it’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween.  But look closer at the black, white and orange decorations and you’ll see the spooky décor has a decidedly different message.

“[It reads] U.S. Economy rest in peace,” said Mazur.

The father of two and veterinarian -- who owns his own small business -- is using his yard to get his views on the new health care law out to the world.

“Everything hit the fan on October first.  I’m seeing the cost for my staff going up.  Their health plan goes up 37% this year,” Mazur said.

Wooden grave markers read messages such as “socialized medicine.”

According to Mazur the feedback has been, for the most part, positive.

“People driving by have given it a lot of honks.  People stop to take pics, enjoy it and like the message behind the decorations,” he said.

He insists, for the record, he’s not a political activist.  Just a dad concerned about his family and his business.

“For those who disagree, or for some reason think Obamacare works for them, I hope they appreciate the tongue and cheek aspect also,“ Mazur said.
