CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Six people, including the wife of a Charlotte Bobcats player, were arrested during a fight outside an uptown bar early Thursday morning after a party hosted by NBA star Chris Paul.

The fight took place around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the NC Music Factory outside of the Label night club where a party hosted by the Los Angeles Clippers star guard had just wrapped up.

Jamie Patrice Thomas, wife of Charlotte Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas, was one of four women arrested during the altercation.

Thomas and three other women tried to rob another woman of her cell phone and purse before hitting a security guard at the scene, according to the police report.

When officers arrived, Thomas was in a car in the parking lot and tried to leave the scene, hitting a security guard with her car for the second time, police said.

Charlotte police then had to force Thomas, 26, out of the vehicle.

"Officers gained entry to the vehicle by breaking the driver window.  Officers were able to open the door after breaking the window," CMPD said in a statement.  "A female inside of the vehicle, Shassity Stevenson, began pulling Thomas back inside of the vehicle away from the officers.  During the struggle officers had to utilize force in order to extract Thomas from the vehicle via the driver’s side door of the vehicle."

Thomas was taken to Carolinas Medical Center to receive treatment before being taken to jail.

Stevenson, 28, and Sascha Smith, 22, were also charged with resisting a public officer when they refused to get out while in the car with Thomas.  Smith is the fiance of Bobcats guard Ben Gordon, according to several internet websites.

A fourth woman, 22-year-old Morgan Williams, was charged with robbery for allegedly stealing the victim's purse.

An ad for the party on Facebook shows Paul hosted the event with Kaya Jones of the Pussycat Dolls.  Paul scored 19 points and had 10 assists in a 100-94 win hours earlier at Time Warner Cable Arena against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Jamie Thomas was charged with DWI, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a public officer.

While on the scene, a separate fight broke out inovlving two other men. Michael Bernard Noel, 31, was charge with communicating threats, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.  Vanny Phillip McNeil, 32, was charged with resisting an officer.

The Bobcats play at Atlanta Thursday night and were en route to the game Thursday night.

"We are aware of the incident but it would be inappropriate for us to comment on this pending legal matter," said Bobcats spokesman B.J. Evans.

Tyrus Thomas has been limited by a calf injury this season and has played in just eight games.
