CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after two people were shot in west Charlotte Monday afternoon.
According to CMPD, officers responded to a 911 call of a reported shooting near the intersection of Caronia Street and Ross Avenue a little before 6 p.m. Police said two people were shooting at each other during the incident.
Investigators said a man was shot in the torso during the shootout. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A woman was grazed in the leg during the incident. She was taken to CMC with a minor injury.
Detectives are working to determine if the suspect and victim knew each other and to establish a motive for the shooting.
