Man accused of shooting, killing neighbor in Gaston County

According to police, the deadly shooting stemmed from a dispute over cars being parked in front of the shooting suspect's residence.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A 59-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing his neighbor in Gaston County Saturday.

Gaston County police responded to a call in the 4500 block of Dawnwood Drive near Gastonia in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Patrick Schneider lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Schneider was pronounced dead at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

Investigators say the shooting was a result of a dispute with a neighbor, who was later identified as Gregory Town. According to police, Schneider and Town are next-door neighbors with a history of disputes.

Saturday's incident apparently stemmed from a dispute over cars being parked in the street in front of Town's residence.

Town is charged with first-degree murder, according to police.
