CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Hornets rookie Malik Monk was cited following a single-vehicle crash in Arkansas, according to a police report.

According to the University of Arkansas Police, officers responded to a call of a crash a little after 5:45 a.m. Sunday in Fayetteville, Ark.

One witness told officers at the scene that they heard a loud noise and saw that a vehicle had hit the gates to Roadhog Park, one of the landmarks at the University of Arkansas, according to campus police.

Monk was cited with careless driving and no proof of insurance.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Monk met with team doctors Tuesday in relation to Sunday's accident. Clifford said the Hornets rookie is "dealing with some stiffness."

NBC Charlotte's Kelsey Riggs reports Monk was seen shooting after the team's practice.
