Shake Shack to open Charlotte restaurant

The New York-based burger chain Shake Shack is reportedly bringing its first location to the Carolinas.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brace yourselves. Shake Shack, as well as its legion of followers, is coming to Charlotte.

According to Shake Shake's Vice President of Marketing & Communications Edwin Bragg, the New York-based burger chain will open its first store in the Carolinas later this year. The restaurant will be located in the Park Road Shopping Center, alongside other Charlotte favorites like Chopt and Fuel Pizza.

For those who aren’t familiar, Shake Shack serves up homemade “ShackBurgers” and is famous for its crinkle-cut fries and milkshakes.

The highly anticipated opening is one of many new additions to the center, including another Amelie’s French Bakery location that’s set to open soon.

Charlotte was chosen over Charleston for Shake Shack’s first Carolinas store, according to a report from Eater. The next closest Shake Shack locations are in Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia.
