Bobcats Home Game

11:07 AM EST on Wednesday, November 9, 2005

The Charlotte Bobcats have moved into a state-of-the-art downtown arena. It opened on Friday, October 21 as home of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, WNBA’s Charlotte Sting and ECHL's Charlotte Checkers.

The scoreboard is a major focal point of the new arena. At 16 feet by 28 feet it is the largest indoor HDTV screen in the US. There is a 3-D replica of the Charlotte skyline on top of the scoreboard. All buildings are to scale, except the Wachovia “Jukebox” Building. It’s taller because engineers had to hide a structural element.

The entire arena is a wireless hotspot. Fans will be encouraged to bring their wireless devices to play some yet-to-be announced computer games created by the Bobcats.
